Mario Party 8
Now here’s a true multiplayer party game. It seems like mini-games are dominant on the Wii, or at least among early titles. Mario Party is like a classic board game crossed with goofy mini-games. Players take turns rolling dice, er, punching dice blocks, to move spaces, collecting goodies (or misfortune) as they move along the board, then squaring off in a variety of mini-games.
Here’s another game I haven’t played at great length, mostly because it’s truly a multiplayer affair, and I don’t often have other people around to play it. But it’s fun, especially with groups.
I’m more inclined to agree with the reviewers who thought the slow pace of this game detracted from its fun level. It’s a pain waiting through all the whizz-bang graphics as all four players (including the computer ones) roll and move around the board.
